apps for your tuesday

The Creeps is still free – if you haven’t picked it up yet, you really should!

Sky Burger

Device: Works best on an iSmall
Genre: build me a burger!
Price: FREE  (originally $1.99)

Sky Burger is a really cute game that would be good for kids and people wanting to kill time while waiting for the bus/train/Rapture. Build up a burger from ingredients falling from the sky to maximize your tip – how expensive can you make this order? In a fantasy world where no one bats an eye at a sandwich made of 53 slices of cheese and 72 meat patties, this is a simple game that is actually a lot of fun.

Fuzzle

Device: All
Genre: match 5
Price: FREE  (originally $0.99)

Fuzzle is a match-5 game that has you arranging coloured dots in a row of 5 to clear the board. Each time you move a dot, more appear. I don’t know that this one will hold my interest – I played it for several levels but found it easy to put down and do something else, which is never a good sign. Still, if you’re looking for a colourful puzzle game and you really enjoy moving balls, you might want to check Fuzzle out while it’s free.

Stair Dismount

Device: All
Genre
: do you really want to hurt me?
Price: FREE  (originally $0.99)

Tired of puzzles? Want to do some damage? Stair Dismount is an impact simulator, which is a fancy term for “hurl your guy down the stairs and do as much damage to him as possible”. There are quite a few of this genre out there, but this one is pretty popular and also free for a limited time. If you’re feeling particularly evil, you can import pictures of people from your photo album to put on your dummy. Mad at someone? Toss ’em down the stairs repeatedly. The interface is pretty slick, and I like that you can rotate the screen to really inspect what you’ve done to your dude – this one is pretty cool. Get it for free!

Shibuya

Device: All
Genre
: puzzl0r
Price: $0.99  (launch price)

Shibuya was featured at PAX as part of their Indie Showcase, and is really pretty. It’s a puzzle game in which you need to match falling coloured blocks for points and bonus combos. I’ve been playing it for a couple days now, and keep going back to it – it’s nice to look at, has great music, and is made by the geniuses behind CameraBag. Definitely worth a look at if you like interesting puzzle concepts!

Officially addicted to Sky Burger. I like simple, time-suck apps, and this fits the bill perfectly. Thanks for the rec.
