rainy saturday apps

Super Crazy Deal Alert:

Civilization Revolution

Device: All
Genre: Build the world, then rule it
Price: FREE (originally $6.99)

Get this game NOW. Sid Meier’s Civilization is one of the most popular and long-lasting strategy game apps, and the iDevice version is fantastic. If you’ve ever played any of the Civilization games, you know what you’re in for – this app has sold millions of copies at the $9.99 price point, and is FREE for a limited time so holy crap go get it now. I’ll wait. Go. download.

Jump o’Clock

Device: All
Genre: Might as well jump (jump)

Price: FREE (originally $0.99)

This game is kind of gorgeous, if you’re into that whole steampunk thing. It’s a fairly basic jumping game – tap the screen to make your little dude jump from gear to gear to go up. I do find myself getting bored of the gameplay, but it just looks so darn pretty that I’ll probably keep it. It’s worth checking out for free though, and the challenges are a little more fun once you’re done going up.

I love bubbles but sometimes they need to be put in their place:

Poppit

Device: All
Genre: Popping
Price: FREE (originally $1.99)

Smash like-coloured bubbles together multiple times to make them go away. The number in the bubble is how many times smashing must happen. Show those smug bubble jerks who’s boss in this simple but attractive game.

Stand back, I’m going to try science:

The Elementals

Device: All
Genre: Science is Adorable
Price: FREE (possible launch price)

This is a periodic table of elements, but it’s the cutest one you’ll ever see. Each element has a floaty blob thing that makes faces when you touch it, and the details for the element tells you the number of electrons and protons, what kind of element it is, and it is just so goddamn cute. Be the weirdest kid in science class with this useful but bizarre table of kawaii elements. Science rules! And is adorable!

Stupid apps going on sale…I bought Civ 2 weeks ago. Sure, it’s worth the $10, but I’m a cheap bastard, and I’d rather pay nothing any day.
